Penny is a retired public library director living in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. She has adult-onset severe asthma (SA) plus related sinus and Eustachian tube issues. Her son and two grandsons had “childhood” asthma but are all currently well-managed. Penny’s asthma, sinus and audiology specialists at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver help her to live a normal life – with the help of various medications including Xolair. She keeps fit by taking long walks, ice-skating, and weight training. She loves to paint with acrylics, work in the garden, and go boating and RVing with Mike and their dog, Lexy. Penny is proud to be part of NAPA and is currently chair of the Strategic Planning Committee. She believes that asthma can be managed – but you and your doctors have to keep working at it.
